Dragonfly Greens | Our Story
Hong Kong – To grow a plant takes the right combination of soil, clean water and hard work, as our ancestors discovered 12,000 years ago at the dawn of agriculture.
Today, in densely packed Hong Kong, where 97 percent of our food is imported, sustainable farming involves challenges unimaginable even 100 years ago, when local rice, vegetables and fruit were produced on terraces that have long since disappeared.
Meeting that challenge is part of the Dragonfly Greens mission, at our hydroponic greenhouse farm on the outskirts of industrial Tai Po. We are inspired by the growing community of small-scale farmers in HK.
A lot of buildings, no greenery, no farm land, but all of these people need to be fed… By 2050 the global population will reach 9.8 billion a UN report has stated. Will there be enough land, water and genetic diversity to meet global demands?
